“I’m delighted with today’s funding announcement and would like to thank the provincial and federal governments for their wise investments in our municipalities. I would also like to emphasize the significant investment that came directly from our local governments themselves. Municipalities in this province have invested on average 30% of the total cost of their capital works projects and in some cases up to 55% for road repairs and paving,” said Oldford. “Working together with the federal and provincial governments we’ve been able to leverage a significant portion of the federal infrastructure funding that our sector so desperately needs.”

It is critical that all three orders of government continue this investment if our communities are to face the very real challenges ahead. Clean and safe drinking water, acceptable waste water treatment and safe, effective transportation networks are essential for the future of our hometowns. It is through this kind of partnership that all three orders of government will ensure a healthy future.
